Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns today.
I have read your notes. Most probably the swelling is
Bartholin cyst /labial cyst--It occurs due to blocking of duct of the gland. It is first seen in the lower part of labia. As the secretions increase it can increase in size.
The other possibilities are:
3. Gartener’s duct cyst- This duct usually disappear’s at birth. Some part of the cyst may remain, causing a cyst.
2. Lipoma- a small mass consisting of fat cells
3. Inclusion cyst-These occur as a result of
injury to vaginal wall during child birth or surgery
3. Very rarely it could be a mesenchymal tumour (
connective tissue tumour) or
smooth muscle tumour.
Since there is no pain or discharge, it is not infection or
abscess.
To confirm what it is, so that correct treatment can be given you must fix appointment with Gynecologist . Since it is large it needs to be treated surgically. In my opinion using sitz bath or applying moist warm compresses to the area is not going to help.
I hope I have answered your concerns. If you have any further queries, do write to us. I will be happy to answer.
Best wishes,
Dr Rama
