Hi,
Vocal cord cyst develops due to retention of mucus or rarely keratin. Patients present with hoarseness of voice. Usually it won't subside by voice therapy, surgical removal is necessary to return to normal.Cysts are not cancerous, even though they may be sent for histopathology examination to rule out the same. So,I think you need not worry about cancer and just go on with the surgery.
