Hi there. Wonder if you can help at all. My sister has had a problem with her ears lately, she feels they are blocked up & when listening to loud music in a car her left ear starts crackling. She's never felt any pain with her ears since they've felt blocked but she has just informed me that she has recently been inhailing cocaine & wonders if this is causing the problem? She has just put ear wax remover drops into one of her ears & is feeling a popping/crackling sensation but is not in any pain. Can you tell me will this help to clear her ears or will it harm her ears because she she has been using this substance? I'm so angry/ashamed of her right now & I'm too scared to take her to a doctor. Hope you can help & that what I'm telling you remains confidential. Thank you.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Your sister is having impacted wax in ear. For that you can use debrox like over the counter ear drop to soften wax. But let me tell you it is better to consult ENT surgeon for otoscopy examination and hearing test.
If needed, with plastic instrument, wax can be curated. If needed syringing can be done to flush ear. After wax removal antibiotic drops are given. Your sister's otoscopy examination will also reveal whether fungal infection (black or while clog) or otitis is present or not.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care.
