Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. Genital herpes can be tested by doing herpes 1 and 2 blood test. In this HSV type 2 serological test will help to rule out genital herpes. The oral herpes which is herpes 1 also can cause genital lesions which can be ruled out by HSV 1 specific serologic test also. But these tests also can give false negatives. So can't be trusted much with out any clinical symptoms. That is why your doctor didn't ordered for it.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
