How To Stabilize The Fluctuating BP Levels?

I have just had a blood pressure reading - twice within about 5 minutes, first was way high 150/90. Second a few minutes later had already fallen to 130/87 (still high but obviously a reasonable drop). How much impact upon the reading can stress/nervousness have? I seem to always be stressed when I have a medical.

Thanks for contacting HCM. Dear patient, yes it is true that stress and nervousness affects blood pressure. In your case you have white coat hypertension where the anxiety of getting a high BP on check up transiently raises the systolic BP as was yours at 150mm hg. Then as the persom relaxes the apparant high BP returns to normal(as in your case it returned to 130). This is a normal phenomenon and you do not have much cause to worry. Only thing you need to do is relax, do regular meditation, eat healthy, exercise regularly and get a good sleep as your diastolic BP is around 90. Regards
