How To Stop Addiction To Skoal?

I m addicted to skoal, real bad. I m 51, 194 pounds, 6 ft tall. I ve been getting my cholesterol tested since Aug. 10. Since then I lost 40 pounds mostly via diet changes. Now I m walking like my life depends on it because my good cholesterol is too low and my bad is too high. I get test again late July. I told my Dr. I will lose 20 more and take it down to 170. I was 229 at my high. He thinks it s hereditary and losing weight won t fix it. If I quit Skoal will my numbers improve? He said No, it s my genes. Your thoughts?

so many points. Cholesterol is derived from diet and how cholesterol is made by the liver and handled. How the cholesterol is made and handled is genetic. Drugs do a lot to it; lifestyle changes do some. You cannot predict how much exercise, vitamins, maybe red wine will affect cholesterol. You CAN say that if you haven't had an event then your risk is considerably in a lower category than someone who HAS had an event in the past. Furthermore, I might mention that 220 cholesterol is about normal. being five to ten percent higher or lower than that is not a very big difference.
