Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Am soujanya, sir from past 4 years my friend having bad habit of eating slatepencils One box daily. She turned like a drugs patient.Am affraide about her health and Her body always very heat.and she also getting probles like hairfall, pimples etc.plz tell me sir is any problem will faced in future.
The habit of eating slate pencils & symptoms of body heat, hair fall, pimples, etc are linked with each other. The continuous craving for eating inedible substances (like chalk, slate pencils) is known as Pica. It is one of the features of Iron deficiency anemia.
Investigations like complete blood count & peripheral blood smear will be helpful in clinching the diagnosis. Based on the reports, management will include administration of supplemental Iron & Folic acid preparations. There can be associated factors like hookworm infection which needs to be managed with Albendazole preparations. Also your friend needs to take a healthy balanced diet rich in green leafy vegetables.
So, kindly consult her General Physician for proper clinical evaluation. Wishing a good health. Take care.
