How To Strengthen The Area That Suffered Second Degree Burn On Arm ?
My daughter had a second degree burn on her arm that healed on about 4 weeks. However, the skin seems very fragile now. It has broken open twice, once when her arm rubbed the carpet and today when she bumped into the corner of a wooden mirror frame. How can I strengthen this area of skin?
You cannot. What you are developing is called an unstable scar. I would advise that you massage the affected area with some oil - such as olive oil . She would also benefit from the use of a compression garment or a silicone sheet on the area. That will soften the scar. If none of this works, ultimately will have to go for an excision of the scar and a split skin graft.
