How To Tell My Parents That I Am Diabetic?

I think i may be experincing symptoms of diabetes. >yellow-dark yelow urine >litte bit thirstier than i normally am >i'm a bit overweight [i understand sugar/carbs rather than weight is the problem, but nevertheless] I want to tell my parents, but I am afraid they will refuse to believe me due to the severity of the disease. Also, i am wondering: if i do not yet have a very severe case will i have to stay in a hospital for several days? [i've read some of the ADA Forums and many people say they were in the hospital for a week]. How should i tell my parents i think i have it, and how long will i be in the hospital? v.v i'm 15- sophmore hs

Hi... Diabetes is not that serious problem,if it can be kept under control... The problem only occurs if the sugars very high and are uncontrolled... Family support is very much essential... Do not be scared to break the news to your parents.. Get your blood sugars and kidney function test done... Start of the treatment early, in the form of diet, exercise to reduced weight and meications if needed... It is better to get all this done with the support of your family... Do not delay in doing that. The earlier you do this, you san avoid unnecessary complications and the need for hospitalisation too..

Why be scared ?. Get yourself evaluated and then tell your parents. It shall make sense and you can tell them with confidence.

Just because you are having symptoms- you just cannot decide that you are suffering from diabetes.
