hi Dr. Samuel i am eden,24 yrs. old ,weighing 45 kls. i have a scars on my back and its a keloid type. i have this since grade school . Is there a chance that this keloid will take out into my back without getting it back as a mark ?, because when i see a doctors they said that it won t heal anymore , that will just only be flattened if i d do a medication for it from them .

Keloid is due to excessive formation of scar tissue as part of the wound healing process. They are raised above the surface unlike normal scaring which is flat/level with the skin.
Keloids are also usually itchy and may extend beyond the actual wound margins with finger like projections.
Keloids are best managed with intralesional steroids e.g intralesional triamcinolone acetonide. The depot injection causes breakdown of the excessive collagen tissue present in keloidal scar, thereby causing them to flatten. However, it is not possible to completely erase them.
The injection might be repeated after 3 weeks if required.
