Hi, I was just told by my doctor I have Tonsiloloth.. and I just noticed what appears to b circumvallate papillae....I noticed my break stinks more and I have a sore throat and it hurts to swallow...what do I do? Would it b a good idea to also have my tonsils removed?
As per your complain Tonsilloliths or tonsil stones are calcified structures which are formed due to calcification of food debris over the tonsils. They can cause recurring throat infections and are the cause for bad breath.. Although the tonsil stones can be removed manually by using a q-tip as well as the physician can remove it if you are unable to do it on your own..
But in case if there is recurring formations and if the throat infection and bad breath is causing recurrent problems the permanent treatment for it is to get Tonsillectomy done that is surgical removal of tonsils.. So, if you have a long standing problem with tonsil stones you can proceed for getting the tonsils removed..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
