Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have what i believe could be an abscess in my perineum. I had an anal fissure that got infected and now that its healed there is a very very tender lump in my perineum area. Its pretty uncomfortable to sit. What kind of doctor would i need to see to have this checked out. I really dont want my family doctor to be looking down there if i dont have to.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that you have an abscess in the Perineum or there is a possibility that you have got tear in the perineum leading to severe pain and discomfort during sitting..
I would suggest you to consult a Proctologist and get evaluated and a clinical evaluation is generally sufficient while he can do an anoscopy to check for fissure.. He can advise you to apply a steroid and numbing ointment in the perineum to relieve pain and inflammation..
In case if there is infection antiseptic ointment can also be advised along with steroids .. Anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and antibiotics can also be advised.. Doing cool compresses can also help..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
