hi! i got my belly button pierced about a month ago and i think it s showing signs of infection and i was wondering if it needs to be taken out. the bottom bulb towards my belly button is fine but the area around the top bulb my skin is very dry and the piercing has been releasing small amounts of pus and discharge when i go to clean it and the piece of jewelry does not move as easily as before. it also hurts hurts when i wear pants with buttons that cover the piercing. i m scared to remove it because i read if you remove it while infected the piercing will collapse and the pus will get trapped and create an abscess. i usually clean it with a saltwater solution and wash the discharge away with a warm wet washcloth .
