How To Treat Burning Sensation In The Chest After Swallowing Hot Food?
3 days ago i swallowed some very hot mashed potatoes. It did not burn my mouth or tongue. But i swallowed it very fast. It burned the inside of my chest. 3 days later it hurts so bad now to swallow ANYTHING. Warm or cold. I get a very very sharp pain. What can i do? I am so hungry!!
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. Swallowing hot mashed potatoes are hot indeed from within and might have cause hot burns in the esophagus as you had swallowed them fast and at the same time might have some reflux that caused or increased the symptoms of painful swallowing. I would advise you the following: Consult your Doctor for prescription of an anesthetic get to be swallowed. Take only liquids at body temperature. Get a referral for upper GI Endoscopy to know the exact cause of the pain. Get started on a PPI like OMeprazole. Further management will be as per the findings of upper GI Endoscopy.
