Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 7 weeks pregnant and was severly constipated for a week. Yesterday i went to the emergency room and they gave me an enema. ( milk of magnesia i believe) After i got one i felt nauseau, cold, got a headache and threw up. Its the day after and i still feel week. Do you think this harmed my baby? Was it safe? Or is it normal to feel this way after getting an enema?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Enema may not harm the baby. But it may be harmful, if you start passing the watery diarrhea because of enema. Avoid the constipation by eating more fiber containing diet and drinking lots of water.
Hope this information helps.
