How To Treat Cough And Runny Nose Of 4 Year Kid?
my 4 year old has had a cough and runny nose for 3 weeks now went to dcters and they said its allergies which it isnt i tried giving him some children claritin and it didnt work.....i am pretty sure he needs amox. but his cough isnt in his chest and his lungs are clear......been taking cough medicine but its not getting any better,,,,any suggestions?

Hello,
There could be nasal infections and adenoid hypertrophy .Adenoids are tonsils behind the nose and which causes blockage of the nose and recurrent infections in nose and sinuses.
In 4 yrs old child there are more chances of being adenoids with nasal discharge and blockage.
If the chest is clear.
You should start with amoxicillin with clavulinic acid ; antihistaminics and decongestant syrups.
In addition if there is crsting in nose then normal saline nasal drops. otherwise oral antibiotic and decongestant syrups would help.
