How To Treat Coughing And Hoarseness That Started After Being Strangled?

I got strangled while drinking some water on Christmas night. I coughed really hard for a long time. I have been very hoarse ever since and have a tickling cough. I was given a Zpak which did not help at all. I was given a steroid shot last Friday. If I talk long at all, I start to cough and I get hoarse again. Should I go see an ENT for just give it time to heal?

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding hoarseness of voice after being strangled.

As you said in your treatment history that you are being given Zpak and steroid but these are helpless. This indicate that there may be some laryngeal trauma may be involving cartilages, so I think you should consult your ENT doctor for thorough examination and if needed than direct laryngoscopy may also be performed to find out the real fact and accordingly that may be manage.

Regards.
