My daughter is 1 1/2 year old and had been having diarrhea for 5 days now, mucoid, greenish stool and based on the stool exam, there is the presence of WBC 2+. She had been taking Metronidazole for 5 days now and Zinc supplement. What might be the problem?

Bacterial dysentry is the common cause of infective diarrhoea not amoebiasis. WBC of 2+ does not denote an infection and does not require treatment. Change the diet to a reduced sugar and milk diet and continue the zinc supplement.Yogurt and banana and rice is good for tummy and should be given,ORS can be added if there is dehydration and child not feeding well
