Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had diarrhoea since Thursday at 3am. I have been going to the toilet every 30 mins. I have taken 2 sachets of Dioralyte today and eaten a piece of toast. I have just been to the toilet and passed quite a lot of blood in my urine. Pleas advice.
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Bloody urine along with watery stools may be explained by diagnosis like hemolytic uremic syndrome. If you live in malaria endemic area, you should be tested for malaria. You should go to your physician and be tested for complete blood count along with peripheral smear and complete metabolic profile Stool culture should also be done.
Urinalysis should be done to confirm if it's blood and may throw some light on the cause of blood in urine. Keep on staying hydrated for now like you are doing and avoid taking antibiotics prior to proper diagnosis as it is contraindicated in HUS.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Muhammad Gul
