How To Treat Edematous And Erythematous Hypopharynx?

I had a E.G.D. yesterday and was shown that i had an edamatous and erythematous hypophyarynx..am seeing an E.N.T. next week..what is this and whydoes this occur...cant swallow bread without pain gong down and only wet foods..sometimes choke on salivea or after a drink of liquid.

Edematous means that an area is swollen, erythematous means that an area is red.
The test therefore showed that the hypopharynx is red and swollen.

This can occur in different settings, the most common are as a result of an infection or in an allergic reaction. Other causes would be trauma to the area, cancer.

You may want to use high protein , high calorie liquids to maintain your nutrition till you are seen by your ENT doctor.
