How To Treat Fluid Filled Elbows After Undergoing Total Elbow Replacement?

My husband had a total elbow replacement a year ago and over the last several months it has a large amount of fluid on it. His ortho said he would not recommend aspirating it due to risk of infection and said he would just have to learn to live with it and wear a soft brace, but it is huge about the size of a small baseball. What is ur opinion? My husband has severe RA.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
It looks to me that his elbow is either having synovitis or infection. This fluid needs to be removed, My suggestion will be to show to a rheumatologist and start rheumatoid drugs. Also get CRP, ESR and Ra factor done. This will give us idea about his present condition.
