Thanks for posting on HealthCareMagic. Rabies is a lethal disease that can affect humans. It can be transmitted by infected mammals including cats and dogs. In case the cat was not infected with rabies, you need not worry about being infected with rabies. But in case the cat was infected, the cat is not likely to be asymptomatic for more than 10 days. So if you can trace the cat and see if it is healthy after the 7 days that has already elapsed, I suggest you wait for another 3 days.
You had done a good thing by washing with soap and water which reduces the probability of the infection being passed.
Had 7 days not passed, I would have strongly advised that you take anti-rabies vaccine immediately and after you have completed the 3rd dose if the cat remains well, you can afford to skip the rest. With 7 days gone, my recommendation would be to trace the cat. If you are unable to trace the cat, it can be reasonable to play of the safe side and take the full course of vaccination.
No need to worry as of now.
If he would also need to be given a dose of tetanus toxoid depending on the current status of immunisation.

Hope that helps. Feel free to revert back in case of further queries if any.
