How To Treat Forehead Injury In A 6 Years Old Child?
My 6 year old son hit his forehead hard, and there is a large bump. He acted ok after the initial pain but his eyes have been dilated for a couple of hours. He is sleeping now. I am worried because the eyes are dilated. Should I seek more immediate medical attention.
Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic. I would like to know what you mean by dilated eyes...is it swollen with red color on eyelids or dilated pupils. As he is sleeping now, usually pupils should be constricted, but if the pupils are dilated in sleep, you should go to emergency room immediately.
Otherwise if his eyes are swollen then there should be subcutaneous hematoma (blood collection), treat with ice packs and if not settling consult your pediatrician.
Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health. Dr. Sumanth MBBS., DCH., DNB (Paed).,
