Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m currently on a diet which requires me to drink a lot of water. I m on medication as well & my Dr has recently started doing drug tests to make sure the medication is in my system. When I went to the Dr earlier this month he said there wasn t anything in my system & the next time I come see him, if the medication is not in my system he can no longer be my Dr anymore and see me on a monthly basis anymore. What do I do because all I drink is water which makes me constantly pee??
What a dilemna! I understand. Eliminate all caffeine. If no blood pressure problems, slightly increase your salt. Do not drink 3 hours before bedtime. Take your medication as prescribed, exactly. If you are to take with food then do so.You say you are required to drink "a lot" of water. Ask Dr. SPECIFICALLY how much so you are not overhydrating yourself and causing a dilutional effect in your blood artifically lowering the lab test. Most hydration calculations are 1 cc per calorie intake or 240 cc = 1 cup x 8 = on an average 2 liters per day or about 8 cups per day including tea, juice, water, all liquids. I have a sense you are overhydrating.Good LucK! Kathy J. Shattler, MS,RDN
