How To Treat Gastric Issues After Having A Colonoscopy?

I had a colonoscopy because I turned 50 yrs and its required by my insurance company but I had problems during the procedure. I woke up during it and they only saw some of my right colon but since then I had a lot of gas and when I pass the gas sometimes poop comes out. I continue to have this issue 1 year after the test. I have never had this problem in my life and Im scared to repeat the test because I was in so much pain when they performed it. Any thoughts

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of colonoscopy as required by the Insurance company as you turned 50, but the procedure could not be complete due to the pain . You have since then developed gases and when passed can cause fecal incontinence.
My thoughts as asked by you.
Sine you were prepared for the colonoscopy by cathertics to cleans the large bowel, that changed the bacterial flora, and hence caused the lose stools.
I would advise you the following:
Send the stool for tests for 3 consecutive days.
Get an ultrasonography done and get CT scan of the abdomen and CT virtual colonoscopy.
Get the blood tests done for CBC, thyroid and liver function tests as well as amylase and lipase.
These will give us the diagnosis about the cause of your symptoms; get treated accordingly and you will be fine.
IF all the tests are normal then you can be treated as a case of IBS, irritable bowel syndrome.
I find this answer helpful
