Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How To Treat Hardness Around Stomach Due To Gastroenteritis?
My 18 month old had the stomach bug a week ago, and seems to be better, but has had a hard belly since then. Even after waking up in the morning or after a bowel movement, her belly is still hard. It doesn't seem to be painful to her. Is this normal?
In the pediatric age group of the patient if the abdomen is hard and no symptoms are there then it is nothing to worry. Because it may not be due to any disease, it can only be managed or need attention when it is the distension with some symptoms like nausea and vomiting, else it is nothing to worry. You can wait for some time if the abdomen does not become soft then you can see the doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Akhtarhusain
