How To Treat Irritable Throat That Hurts When Swallowing And Has A Tickling Sensation?
For the last several months I have noticed that the left side of my laryngeal prominence seems to be disolving, disappearing ? Upon examing it I notice that there appears to be a large area missing, approx 1 inch by 1/2 inch. Every morning there seems to be a stringy phlem that I cough up. There also feels like a restriction in the left side of my throat notceably more when I swallow and a tickling sensation that causes me to cough that sometimes feels like a restriction in my throat ?
Tickling sensation often occurs flu like conditions, allergies, dryness and common cold. Please consult an ENT specialist to exclude conditions like laryngocele, laryngomalacia. Your age is unknown. Laryngomalacia seen in older patient's with neuromuscular conditions resulting in weakness of the muscles of the throat.
Take plenty of fluids to avoid dryness in throat and salt water gargling. Take anti-histamines. You can take Cloves steeped in water and with honey can be taken to sooth the throat.
Hello and welcome to HCM, The symptoms that you have mentioned suggest an upper respiratory tract pathology. You need to consult an ENT specialist for clinical examination of the throat to look any abnormality like an ulcer or growth in the mucosa of the throat. Sputum (phegm) is produced in the lower respiratory tract i.e. in the lungs. The material that you have mentioned can be locally produced in the throat itself. If any abnormality is detected on clinical examination, a biopsy may be required to look for changes occurring in the throat mucosa. For symptomatic relief you can give hot fomentation (warm water gargles) and rest to voice.
