How To Treat Knee Injury?

I hit my knee pretty hard yesterday and thought I would just walk it off. Now my knee keeps giving out and I have to catch my on the nearest thing. I want to see someone about it but I injured it at work and I m afraid of getting fired if I try to file workmans compensation. So I guess what I m asking is should yI go to a doctor? Or wait a few days?

Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to blunt trauma.

For pain, you can take tablet acetaminophen. Apply diclofenac gel or ointment locally. Heating pads will also help.

In case of swelling, you may require X-ray of that knee.

Avoid squatting and forward bending. Use support while walking.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
