How To Treat Light Spotting And Diarrhea?

I m 11 weeks pregnant and am having light spotting without any pains. My stomach doesn t seem as big or hard as it was, but I also had pretty bad gas. This morning I had diarrhea with cold sweats and chills. I will call my OB tomorrow during office hours, but don t want to go to the ER as there s not much to be done this early in. How worried should I be, and what could be causing this?

Hi,
Firstly, observation and early intervention is an important part of medical care and in this sense, you should always be careful in pregnancy. The presence of spotting is not a normal phenomenon and please get medical attention as early as possible. Take absolute bed rest, avoid all strenuous activity including sexual intercourse. The diarrhea needs to be attended too. It could be just an episode of intestinal hurry, some infection, or could be related to your pregnancy. You can have lactobacillus medication in case of mild infection. Please maintain adequate hydration. Wish you good health.
