How To Treat Lump Near Shoulder?

my 13 year old daughter has a medium sized lump on her upper right arm near the shoulder. it is hot to the touch but has no redness around it. she is complaining of severe pain around the area. there are no cuts,bruises or any abraisions in the area. what could it be?
