How To Treat Menstrual Irregularity?

Hi, I am 28 yrs old & have a 8 month old son. I have had my periods post 6 months of delivery normally for 5 days. Next month my bleeding continued for more than a month with occassionally heavy bleeding too. My gynaec suggested me Pause MF but it didnt help too. Now she has prescribed Regesterone for 20 days twice a day. Is it fine? Also, what will be the possible side effects of this.. like weight gain etc? Please help.

Hello,

Resuming periods after delivery can be irregular for initial few months because the hormone levels are still fluctuating. If heavy bleeding is there for 1 month then it should be treated, which was done and giving progesterone will not have side effects, weight gain can be there but to regularize your periods it is necessary.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
