How To Treat Mucus In The Eye For A New Born Child?

Hi, My baby is a 3 days old today, since yesterday she has started developing some mucus in her right eye after birth she was crying and tears were flowing mainly from that very eye. The eye is not red neither is the child rubbing it but the stickiness is there. What needs to be done?

First is to rule out octagonal conjunctivitis contacting from mothers genitalia. If so penicillin eye drop prepared from diluting benzyl penicillin 10 times so the dilution multiplied to 10 times makes it 100 times. It can be applied 4hourly. If does not improve then consult an eye doctor.
