How To Treat Painful Ears Caused By Diving Into Water?

My husband jumped about 15-20 feet into water today and now is struggling with signficant ear pain. We have put a few drops of alcohol in and tried lying on that side/other side. He is experience NO nausea or vertigo. There has been no change in his ability to hear? I did give him some pain medication? Any suggestions to give him relief?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi, by your history it looks like your husband might have either injured or ruptured his ear drum, in such conditions it is harmful to put ear drops, alcohol should not be put inside ear, my advice for you is to take oral painkiller and to keep ear dry by plugging the ear while taking bath, please do visit an Ent specialist as soon as possible to confirm diagnosis, take care.
