How To Treat Persistent Cough?

hi my dad keeps coughing off and on, he is 76, but never had a cough like this one, evne though he is taking his antibicotic and puffer the cough still is pressiant, it reallybothers me, should i take him to the hospital, or back to the doctor. please e-mail me back right away. YYYY@YYYY

Yes, you should definitely take him to pulmonologist for chronic cough despite of treatment.
Possibility of following is more
1. Uncontrolled of worsening bronchitis
2. Chronic lung infection like tuberculosis or fungal
3. Lung cancer.
So better to take him to pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system, chest x ray, PFT and CT thorax to identify the cause for his persistent coughing.
