Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Although itching and discharge usually suggests fungal infection, failure of response to anti fungal cream by 48-72 hours or presence of significant pain and swelling might suggest presence of a bacterial component too.

I would recommend adding an oral antibiotic and analgesic for faster cure. If I were your treating doctor, after examination, I would have given antibiotic like Amoxyclav along with ibuprofen and topical Mupirocin for 5 -7 days. Kindly review with your doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
