How To Treat Rug Burn That Has Turned White And Gooey?

I got a rug burn yesterday. I cleaned, disinfected and applied bacitracin to the wound, used gauze and taped the edges. I ve heard scabs lengthen the healing process, so I m trying to keep it moist. I think it hasn t gotten enough oxygen because it has become white and gooey (not infected). My question is should I gently rinse and remove white (cells) and continue treatment. Thank you in advance.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

I can understand your concern for the rug burn that has turned white and gooey. After analyzing your query with diligence it appears to be mild infection and dermatitis around the affected area.

In your kind of cases I suggest to do cold compression. I generally prescribe a course of antibiotic along with a cream containing mupirocin or fucidin. An anti-inflammatory tablet can be taken to reduce the intensity of pain and inflammation in the affected area. I suggest you to meet a doctor to get proper treatment.

All the best.
