How To Treat Several Dark Sands Spots On Head Due To Alzheimer?

Hi! I'm Indonesian. My mom has been in bed for almost a year now. She suffers from Alzheimer and now already in end stage as I read in the medical article. Poor her, she keeps scratching her head as I notice something is developing in her head. Looks like several spots of dark sands accumulated in her head. It feels hard when I touch it, looks removable but it's hard to do. What should I do to help her?

Patients with advanced Alzheimer's disease are not able to report their problems. Since she is scratching her head often, it is reasonable to assume that she has severe itch. Do the dark sands look like small scabs on wounds developed from scratching? In any case, you may try using a steroid cream locally or an antihistamine pill orally (such as Avil or Allegra or Cetrizine).
If you live in warm weather, wash her head/hair properly with shampoo at least twice a week.
Hope this answer helps you.
