How To Treat Slight Swelling And Discoloration In Hand After Drawing Blood?

I have phlebotomy class and Friday a girl drawn blood from me in my hand about 1 minute after under the skin formed a lump it was getting bigger fast. My teacher told me to put pressure on it for 2 to 3 mins and the swelling went down a little..it s now completely down but still sore but now it s also blue under my skin and covering the vien. What happened and why? Am I gonna be ok?

You will be absolutely fine. Some blood has just leaked into your skin causing a bruise and swelling which can be painful. All these symptoms will resolve over the course of a few days to a week.
