Small bumps and red veins So, I was diagnosed and treated for strep in June. Though the infection went away, my tonsils have been swollen since. Initially, my throat was red, but it wasn t sore unless I yelled or sang (my glands on my neck would swell as well, but they re fine now). The redness has since faded to just small red veins at the back of my throat, but now I notice little flesh colored bumps back there. Again, it s not sore, and my tonsils have gone down. I also have notable post nasal drip and my voice is a little deeper. I smoke socially, but am cutting down. I only smoked regularly for 4 years. I worried it may have been an STD (I was a tad promiscuous) or cancer (the voice deepening it the only symptom) or dehydration (it is summer, and I suck at keeping my fluids in check). So what do you think?
Hi,thank you for posting your query in Health care magic.
Looking at your symptoms you might probably suffering from 1.)Granular Pharyngitis(inflammation of the throat). The red colured bumps which you see in most case would be granulations in the back of your throat.Granulations is also a sign of inflammation,2.)Mild laryngitis(inflammation of the voice box)3.)Cold-Inflammation of nose which leads to posterior nasal drip .Posterior nasal drip might cause granular pharyngitis and laryngitis.
You might find relief by taking Antibiotic(like Cefadroxyl),Analgesic(like Ibuprofen),Antacid(like Rantac),Antihistaminic(like Cetrizine),Oral and Nasal Decongestants and a Mucolytic.
Avoid Smoking.Smoking generally can cause cancer in lungs, not mouth(chewing tobacco is a common cause of cancer in throat) but it can lead to Inflammation in the upper respiratory tract.Do steam inhalation.Avoid Dust and other pollutants.Avoid cold, spicy and oily foods.Drink lots of fluids(warm).Do warm saline gargles.Voice rest-don't shout or whisper.Speak softly and only when required.
There are less chances of cancer as cancer in the throat will cause irregular growth which might bleed as compared to multiple red bumps which you are suffering.
If after taking the above measures,if your complains are not improving, then it would be advisable to consult an Otolaryngologist Doctor.
