I hit my shin on a metal box that was sitting on the ground when I got out of bed. It has been a week and the bruise is still there but now there is a small red line (arpox. 1 in. long) running vertically (up and down) through the bruise. There is no pain any more. For the first 3 days after I hit my leg there was a "goose egg" knot. That has subsided. I am scared this might be a blood clot, vascular issue, etc. Any thoughts would be very helpful!
I have gone through your query and can understand..
As per your complain due to hitting with a metal rod there has been soft tissue injury leading to inflammation and swelling and the bruise is due to ruptured blood vessel leading to spillage of blood into the soft tissues.. The bruise can take a comparatively longer time to resolve so you need to worry as it will gradually fade off.. The red line is also due to inflammation at the site of injury.. I would suggest you to do alternate warm and cool compresses over the bruised area.. Apply heparin containing gel as it helps in faster fading of clot by disintegration of the blood.. Elevate you leg while lying down..
Hope this information helps..
