How To Treat The Lump On The Knee Which Is Painful During Nights?
i have a small lump on the top outside area of my knee. It's the size of a pea and can be moved about - I first noticed it on Sunday. I saw my GP on Tuesday who prescribed anti-inflammatory drugs - she thinks it could be an abcess. It is painful and wakes me during the night, the drups don't seem to be working. Any ideas?
Hi ! Good morning. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
Yes, this could be an abscess if it is painful and wakes you during the night. If I were your doctor, apart from prescribing the anti inflammatory drugs to relieve you symptomatically, I would also refer you to a general surgeon to clinically examine you and plan further course of action accordingly depending on the diagnosis and investigations if any.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts. Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
