I am travelling in europe and a week in, i stubbed my toenail on a step very hard causing the nail to become loose from my toe and it to bleed a bit. Several days have passed since and it still is a little sore (though less so) but the nail still seems loose and every day a clear liquid seeps out into my sock. Is this something I can ignore?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that due to injury the nail plate has got detached from the nail bed leading to loosening of the nail.. As there is discharge of fluid there is a possibility that there has been infection in the area.. I would suggest you to consult a General Surgeon and get evaluated.. He can remove the mobile portion of nail under general anaesthesia and also clean the area with an antiseptic solution.. An antimicrobial ointment can be applied over the area and bandage can be placed to prevent dust and injury to the area.. The dressing can be changed daily or every alternate day.. Avoid water exposure to the area of injury. A short course of antibiotics can also be advised to you..
Hope this information helps..
