I am 70, 5'7 and 165 pounds. I have afib and am on prodaxa and lebatalol. I had to have an underarm cyst drained this morning. My GP put a tube in to drain for three days and gave me some pads to change when they get soaked. Because I have serious side-effects with most antibiotics, my doctor decided to just let it drain because it did not look like it had much infection in it. He did not tell me what to use to clean the area when I change pads. I am a little concerned about no antibiotics so want to be sure I keep it clean. How often should I change the pad and should I wash around the tube when I change? I asked if I should use bacitracin and the nurse said "no." Let me know your thoughts.
