Hi Doctor, I am 5 weeks pregnant i have mtp kit but i want to know that at what intervals medicines should be taken also that after termination i want to go through the ultrasound to check if everything is done safely or not .what ultrasound i should go through is there any specific ultrasound to check this.
Dear member, Thanks for writing to healthcare magic. Before taking mtp kit following is important.
1.Complete physical examination by a doctor. 2.Consent from patient 3. Hemoglobin and blood group test. 4.ultrasound to check if ectopic or intrauterine pregnancy. Over the counter mtp kit consumption without consultation is dangerous as risk of ectopic pregnancy is there. The mifepristone has to be taken on 1st day on empty stomach. After 48 hours the misoprostol 4 tablets to be taken at once orally or placed in vagina. 2 weeks later pelvic ultrasound to be done to check if abortion is complete. Thanks Dr Bhagyashree
