How To Wean Off Metformin Slowly Without Any Side Effects?

Hi..I was diagnosed with insulin resistance about 12 years ago and put on Metformin. About 3 years ago I moved and had to get another dr. She told me since my Hgb A1C was in normal range I could stop taking the Metformin. I am having problems with weight loss, always hungry, etc. Should I have been taken off the Metformin?

Hello,
Yes especially if you are having problems with weight loss you really do not need to be on the metformin. Metformin can promote weight loss. If your hemoglobin A1c is normal then I agree that you do not need the metformin.
Please work with your doctor to find the cause for your weight loss.
Regards
