How To Wean Off Pednisone Without Withdrawal Side Effects?
i have been taking pednisone for five years i been try weaning myself off for about 6 months but i end up in the hospital 3 times my doctor is working with me but so for nothing else SEEM TO WORK IS THERE ANY THING ELSE TO DO I DO LIKE BRATHING REGULAR
If you abruptly stop taking prednisone or taper off too quickly, you might experience withdrawal symptoms namely severe fatigue, weakness, body aches, and joint pain. This is because, Prednisone is similar to cortisol, a hormone naturally made by your adrenal glands. If you take Prednisone for more than a few weeks, your adrenal glands decrease cortisol production. Hence, a gradual reduction in Prednisone dosage gives your adrenal glands time to resume their normal function.
The amount of time it takes to taper off prednisone depends on the disease being treated, the dose and duration of use, and other medical considerations. Hence, your doctor is the right person to monitor carefully and taper the dose.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
