How To Wean Off Pentazocine?

Hi Doctor, wrong ovarian cyst operation causing me pain and I was prescribed pentazocine injection to help with the pain. But now am addicted, this have been going on for the past five years plus, I also have a wound on the injection site (buttocks), I need to stop, I need to quit now. Regards Deribelegha Tolofari

The best way to recover from pentazocine or any other drug addiction is to enter a residential treatment center and remain there for at least several months. You have to gradually taper the dose rather than sudden stopping. Sometimes we have to substitute other drugs like methadone to avoid withdrawal symptoms.
