How To Wean Off From The Side Effects Of Medrol 16?

Hello. My mom has been on Medrol 16 for about 3 months for asthma treatment (twice a day) and there a many sides effects as of now including lots of weight gain, depigmentation of the skin, swelling of the face. What is the best way to get off this medication? thanks

generally medrol is not prescribed for such a long period.
consult your family doctor for physical examination & rule out side affects one by one.
your doctor would reduce the dose of medrol 4 mg after every 5 days.
e.g;
1 -5 day- 12 mg daily
6 - 10 day-8 mg daily
11 - 15 day-4 mg daily
16 to 20 day -4 mg alternate day,
21 -25 day - 4 mg twice a week,
26 - 30 day - 4 mg weekly.
stop it
you can use steroid inhalar in emergency.
check for blood sugar,B P ,LIPID PROFILE , calcium,vitamin D 3,WEIGHT
,B M D
consult dietitian,exercise trainer.
