Hi,
Most testicular injuries, are usually of mild in nature and resolve themselves of its own or by adopting simple measures like taking rest, use of scrotal support, use of ice packs and OTC analgesics and anti-inflammatory drugs. However, if the
injury is very painful or pain persists even after 48 hours, then you are always advised to see your doctor.
The doctor will examine you for any internal injury to testes, swelling of
epididymis or presence of blood (
hematoma) due to trauma. Precise diagnosis, may some times be made by
sonography. If the injury is not severe and it has not injured the testes and epididymis, there is usually no ill effect on your sexual and reproductive life.
However, extensive injuries to testes and epididymis, particularly not treated properly, may have a bad effect on sexual and reproductive life in future in a few cases. Presence of a big hematoma, if not evacuated, may have a bad effect on testes and sperm production due to pressure of the surrounding blood on testes.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
