Hypertensive Patient, Vision Problems In Right Eye, Fundus Shows Supra Temporal Branch Retina Vein Occlusion. Will I Lose Sight ?
I'm an hypertensive patient and woke up to notice visual problems in form of missing part of my right eye. On examination,I was told that my visual acuity was normal and fundus examination showed supra temporal branch retina vein occlusion.and presently my visual acuity is said to be 6/4 and no treatment required.i wonder what will be my chances of gaining the full sight back and also afraid that I will not loose more of my sight.

relax, first treat your hypertension and some lifestyle and diet changes required. prognosis in BRVO is reasonably good and it may take upto 6 months but you need frequent follow ups to check macular edema (fluid inside your retina) and neovascularisation (development of new vessels) in your retina. but with treatment in such conditions with lasers and injection like avastin or macugen, chances of normal vision is still high
